Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2025. This policy explains what information Pathways SC ("we," "us," "our") collects through this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

In short

We collect only the information needed to run our nonprofit work: your details if you donate, submit a form, or contact us. Donations are processed by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use advertising trackers.

What we collect

  • Donation information. When you give online, we receive and store your name (or "Anonymous"), email address, donation amount, any dedication or message you provide, and whether your gift is public. Card and payment details are handled directly by Stripe; they are not stored on our servers.
  • Form submissions. If you fill out our contact form, event sign-ups, sponsor inquiries, or other forms, we store the answers you provide (typically your name, email, phone number, and any questions or comments).
  • Contact information. If you email or call us, we may keep a record of that correspondence for our records.
  • Limited technical data. Like most websites, we may receive basic server information such as your IP address and browser user agent. We use this to prevent abuse of our forms and to keep the site running safely. We do not build profiles from this data.

Why we collect it

  • To process donations and issue tax receipts.
  • To respond to your questions, event registrations, and sponsorship inquiries.
  • To send updates you have asked for (for example, event reminders for events you registered for).
  • To comply with legal and accounting requirements for nonprofits.
  • To protect the security of our website and its users.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:

  • Stripe, our payment processor, to handle transactions securely. Stripe's own privacy policy governs how they handle data.
  • Email service providers (such as Resend) used to deliver transactional emails like receipts and confirmations.
  • Hosting infrastructure (Vercel), which hosts this website and stores our database.
  • With law enforcement or regulators where required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Pathways SC or others.

How long we keep it

We keep donation records for as long as required for nonprofit accounting and tax compliance (generally at least seven years). Form submissions and contact messages are kept while they are useful for the purpose they were collected for, and then deleted. You can ask us to delete your information sooner — see below.

Cookies and analytics

We use one essential cookie to keep administrators signed in to our private dashboard. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not currently run third-party analytics scripts. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy.

Your choices and rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing hannah.pathwayssc@gmail.com. For donors, please include the email address used for your donation so we can locate your records.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) or state mini-privacy laws. If you reside in South Carolina or elsewhere in the U.S., you may also opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in those emails.

Children's privacy

Our website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data responsibly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the revised policy.
